While Matt Willis had a brilliant Valentine’s Day, the same unfortunately can’t be said for his wife Emma . As a special romantic gesture, the Busted star, 33, booked them a plush suite at a “sexy” hotel – then accidentally threw a party in it.
“I had this room with a stripper pole and a revolving bed with a mirror on the ceiling,” boasts Matt. “It was amazing.”
Not exactly romantic, mind. Sadly, given Matt was performing with his band Busted on the night in Brighton, bandmate Charlie Simpson and quite a few of their roadies fancied seeing Matt’s sexy suite too.
“I had 35 people partying in the room,” he told 3am at this week’s VO5 NME Awards at the O2 Academy in Brixton.
“I was trying to get rid of them for two hours. They were there until 4am. Emma fell asleep at about 2am, then I fell asleep as well. Marriage , eh?”
The bassist had been trying to spoil his wife of almost nine years – and the mother of their three children, Isabelle, seven, Ace, five, and nine-month-old Trixie – as he won’t get to see her present this Wednesday’s Brit Awards , one of the top jobs in TV. The Voice host, 40, stepped in at the last minute after Michael Buble was forced to pull out of hosting the ceremony, as his son, Noah, battles liver cancer.
“I can’t go, as I’m performing in Newcastle,” Matt explains. “We didn’t know she was doing it until recently, so I’m missing the biggest night of my wife’s career.
“I’m gutted I can’t be there but we can’t reschedule the show. We’d have to cancel it and I think that’s weak.”
Well, at least she had a nice Valentine’s Day.
